About Me
My name is Andres Fresnedo and I am a full stack web developer. My work benefits from my object-oriented design and focus on good coding practices. Creating software solutions with an emphasis on maintainable controllers, efficient models, and well structured databases gives me the greatest satisfaction. I am looking to delve deep in a full stack, or back-end, development role to augment my experience as a developer (and myself as person).

My story as a developer...
Began as a curiosity in community college. At that time, I decided to find out if my ideas about coding were more than just fantasies. They were. I took two introductory courses to learn Java and instantly fell in love with software development.
After moving onto the University of Washington, I incorrectly felt that I was penned into doing a major in applied mathematics. Despite finishing my general education requirements, and taking advantage of the opportunity to complete CS classes (algorithm design, data structures, and databases), I did not complete my math degree. For me, Mathematics did not appear to be a lifelong pursuit.
Luckily, as an aspiring web developer, I found a project to sink my teeth into. For 2 months, I worked on a project called Math Affirm. The site was built using Ruby on Rails and, as the sole developer, I was able to gain first hand experience in creating a full stack application.
Following such a positive experience, I immediately set out to begin a career as a web developer. However, I was not adequately prepared. A few frustrating months of job searching later, I received life changing advice from a friend. Her husband had recently made a career shift into web development and had used a boot camp as a launching point.
The boot camp was a Web Development Immersive course offered by General Assembly in Seattle. GA was an overwhelmingly awesome experience. For the first time in my life, I was surrounded by people interested in the same work as me. I became proficient in JavaScript and learned to use both JavaScript and Python as back end development languages. As an added bonus, I also found joy in front end development (when aided by clever and powerful libraries, such as React).
